The Bad Boy President Rove Behind the President/The Telfon Presidency

Carl Rove described by some as influential, ruthless by some but, brilliant, boy genius by President Bush, has decided to resign. Since July of 2005 many have called for Roves resignation because of his involvement of outing Valerie Plume as an undercover CIA agent in 2003. Much ado has been made of his actions and political influence since the reported “Plume Affair”. Most of the information revolved around Rove and his truthfulness.

Much of the Iraq war has been centered around his truthfulness as well, he has exploited the press and the power President Bush had afforded him in his position. The man behind the other man has been called at times The rove President a ruthless and unscrupulous man of no principle except his own for his power. Maybe now reporters will do a better job of really looking at his role in full, as well as the limitations of the press and the time it takes to supeona papers etc. Of course you have to remember that road blocks will be put up in any instance just like he refused to testify before congress as has Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

I would hope that Senator Patrick Leahy chairman of the Senate Judicial Committee will eventually find a way around Roves audacious, unscrupulous and scurrilous behavior. One of the earmarks of the Bush administration has been their adeptness at not being held accountable for anything at this point in my opinion. Forever known as the Teflon Presidency

Equality and Celebration

Macy's televised 4Th of July celebration was asplender in brilliant fireworks set to music as they drifted through the raindrops. As the sounds of fireworks crackled through the night air and fireworks lit up the sky, live music performances were experienced by the crowds. The Young Peoples Chorus of New York City sang God Bless America. The Pledge of Allegiance was read as the Colonial Williamsburg Fife band played.
Thankful that I did not brave the crowds and doubtful weather, I watched in comfort of my living room. As I listened to the variety of music in between the claps of booming thunder, my ears rang with successive firecracker pops all-most to the tune of the music.
A medley of Oh Susannah, My Old Kentucky Home, What a Wonderful Life,was performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra and even modern day Curse of the Black Pearl from The Pirates of the Caribbean movie and the Star Wars Theme heralded in the nations birthday and Independence celebration.
My thought about independence and celebrations is that we all ought to be able to be free to do what is best for us and our families, and it should not matter that we are straight, or gay or black, or Asian, or Mexican, or Caucasian. Americans need a reasonable free health care system. All women need to be able to have an abortion with no strings attached.
Women should be treated equally in all jobs, no matter what. Equal pay for the job done today, not tomorrow we will think about it, maybe! Women coaches need to be treated on a professional level with the men coaches, and paid the same salary. Gay Americans should be able to serve in the military without fear of recrimination. Every other country accept gay people in their ranks, they have been so for thousands of years every where else, why not in the USA?
We all should be able to reasonably expect that those who do the crimes pay the punishment, and that extends to our politicians, all of them. If Scooter Libby did the crime he should pay and do his time. When Dick Cheney breaks the law he should be punished just like anyone else. When George Bush is caught breaking the law, he should do his time and pay the price as well.
Valerie Plume was doing her job, he husband spoke out and criticized the president. That was what started the court cases regarding the Plume Affair, Scooter Libby and Dick Chaney. Maybe the president should pay all of the legal fees the Plumes have had to pay because they were found not guilty of anything.
But, once again we should all expect to be treated fairly even in the old oak board rooms of universities and the old boy networks. After all, many of these men have girls, not only on the side, but wives and daughters as well! Must we literally turn the tables as Jesus did to the moneychangers in the temples?

Drinking and Socializing and Death

According to a recent report by CNN, 28 people in Russia have drowned while being drunk. It is a fact that there is a drinking problem in Russia. However, because they have been having a heat wave many more people are drinking and now drowning because of it. Some people will use any excuse to drink alcohol.

What these people don’t realize is that drinking alcohol depletes your body of needed blood sugar can cause a hypoglycemic state. Drinking too much causes your body to become dehydrated, which, put simply is a loss of water in your body. That is why when skiers want to drink hot liquids like coffee with Kahlua, they are not doing themselves any favour because then they can also become dehydrated and lose blood sugar. If they drink too much they can also die, but they die on the slopes, or can also cause avalanches which then hurt other people.

Dehydration is a bad thing for most people. When you add it to the mix of bad weather and too much alcohol, it can mean death in a short amount of time.

To drink socially is one thing, to drink to become stupid is another, to drink responsibly is a socially accepted thing to do at least in the U.S. With so many graduations happening in the Uniited States in the next few weeks, drinking socially and responsibly is of paramount importance. In many states the drining age is 18, however in many more the drinking age is 21. The social example that parents set is a prime motivator for graduates on how to handle themselves during a life celebration.
